A Health Canada spokesman says the minister is looking into the claims and is considering an independent investigation.
“Health Canada is aware of the claims made by a member of the media.
The minister has been directed to investigate the matter,” the spokesman said in an email.
“As we’ve said before, Health Canada is committed to ensuring the safety of Canadians and its public servants.
The department takes allegations of misconduct seriously and is fully cooperating with the RCMP investigation.”
In a statement to CBC News, Health Minister Rona Ambrose said she has “taken action to address the issue” and the department will “review the matter in due course.”
